“If the Islamic Republic of Iran were to develop nuclear weapons, Israel, the United States and the world could be at risk of an unprovoked nuclear strike and increased global instability,” the document suggests.

Against this background, they argue, the House of Representatives should pass a resolution saying, among other things, the following: “The United States and the international community must ensure that the Islamic Republic of Iran does not develop or acquire any nuclear weapons.

Late last year,U.S. authorities said Tehran had “killed the possibility of a quick mutual return” by the United States and Iran to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, stressed that the deadlock in the Vienna talks on restoring the JCPOA could lead to uncontrolled escalation.
