According to the association, if the Moldovan authorities do not promptly take such measures, the catastrophe of small and medium-sized farmers is inevitable.

“The association demands a temporary ban on the import of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower from Ukraine,” the association quotes “Farmers’ Power” RIA Novosti.

Farmers also believe that it is necessary to create a strict mechanism of control over the transit of products from Ukraine to prevent smuggling.

Earlier Eurocommission agreed with five EU countries to limit exports from Ukraine of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower, and to provide the farmers affected by the grain shortage €100 million in exchange for the removal of unilateral bans on imports of Ukrainian agricultural products.

Previously, Hungary and five other countries called on the European Commission to ban imports of agricultural products from Ukraine until the end of 2023.
