The US House of Representatives passed a resolution condemning Russia’s actions in the incident with the MQ-9 Reaper drone that fell in the Black Sea, and describing Russia’s intention to lift it as a “threat” to the national security of the United States.

The document also states that “the actions of the U.S. Air Force drone were carried out in a safe and responsible manner in international airspace in accordance with international law.

The resolution was passed unanimously with the support of 410 voting congressmen. The authors of the document are Republican Brandon Williams and Democrat Jim Costa.

We remind you that the incident with the American drone MQ-9 Reaper took place on March 14. At that time, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that an MQ-9 Reaper drone had been detected flying over the Black Sea near the Crimean peninsula in the direction of the Russian state border.

The UAV flew with its transponders turned off and violated the boundaries of the area of temporary regime of airspace use established for the purpose of air defense. The Russian Defense Ministry said that fighter jets were in the air and the MQ-9 “went into uncontrolled flight with loss of altitude” and fell into the Black Sea.

The Russian military stressed that the fighters did not use on-board weapons and safely returned to their home airfield.

Later, the European Command of the US Armed Forces (EUCOM) published a video of the incident.

A few days later, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu awarded the Orders of Courage to Su-27 pilots who had prevented an American drone from violating the borders of the area of special operations.

After the fall of the American UAV in the vicinity of the Crimean coast, Moscow announced plans to raise it and study it. Thus, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev reported in an interview with the author of the Moscow. Kremlin. Putin,” Pavel Zarubin, said that Russia will try to resurface the wreckage of the MQ-9 Reaper and “will definitely do it. And SVR head Sergei Naryshkin stressed that the Russian Federation has the technical capabilities to detect and study the wreckage of the American UAV.

However, representatives of the Biden administration said after the incident that it would be impossible to raise the fallen Reaper from the bottom of the Black Sea, and even if it could be done, it would be of no practical use.

A similar statement was made by John Kirby, Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the National Security Council of the White House.

“If there’s anything left in the water of this drone, it’s probably the flight control surfaces and things like that – probably nothing that really carries any real value to them in terms of technological reconstruction or anything like that. We’re not too concerned about what they might get their hands on,” the U.S. official said.

Earlier, a CNN reporter citing government sources said the Pentagon had allegedly remotely wiped the software of the downed MQ-9 Reaper to prevent sensitive information from falling into the hands of Russian specialists.

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution about the MQ-9 Reaper drone that fell in the Black Sea “is a political step” because Washington failed to take any practical steps in the incident, Vladimir Popov, a distinguished Russian aviator, told .

“The threat to U.S. national security here is that by picking up even a destroyed UAV, we can get an idea of its characteristics, which cannot be achieved on the basis of ordinary visual observation of its flight. It will be possible to analyze the composition of the materials from which it is made, to get an idea of the technological processes that are used in production. That’s why Congress passes a resolution that it threatens the security of the United States. This is political pressure,” the expert said.

According to Vladimir Popov, despite the statements of the Pentagon and the White House that the fallen MQ-9 Reaper has no value, in fact, the Russian side can potentially get access to important technologies and information.

“What is important is not only the analysis of materials, but also control systems, information transmission, surveillance and optoelectronic equipment and its electromagnetic characteristics. So this loss is not as insignificant as Washington officials are trying to portray. It could create trouble for them, especially along the lines of communication. These frequency characteristics are very important,” emphasized the honored pilot of the Russian Federation.

According to military expert Alexei Leonkov, the very flight of MQ-9 Reaper in the area near the Crimean peninsula created a threat to the national security of the US.

“It was a provocative flight, a continuation of the aggressive rhetoric that is hyped in the US and voiced by political and military figures of this country. It is a security threat because it leads to escalation and tension between our countries. Relations between the countries are already at ground zero. All actions of the USA: supplying Ukraine with weapons and intelligence, dragging NATO countries into the conflict – all these cannot be called steps that would defuse the situation and would not pose a threat to the national security of the USA”, – the expert noted.

As for studying American military equipment, the US itself actively sought ways to get at its disposal Soviet and Russian armaments for their detailed study, reminded Alexey Leonkov.

“Now let them get used to the fact that we also study their equipment – the spoils we get. We will study it and improve our means of defense. And there is nothing unusual or reprehensible about it, no matter what Washington says,” the military expert stressed military expert.

Alexei Leonkov added that Russia had already received various American military trophies before.

“This happened in Afghanistan, and in Syria, and now is happening in Ukraine, where the Americans have supplied a variety of weapons. The study of military equipment provides a great deal of information that allows us to improve our defenses. The study of the MQ-9 Reaper that fell in the Black Sea will serve precisely this purpose,” the interlocutor concluded.
