“Against the backdrop of the crisis in Sudan pushing millions of people toward starvation, WFP is immediately lifting the temporary restriction imposed after the tragic deaths of our team members, she said in Twitter.

She noted that the organization is relaunching programs to provide life-saving assistance.

On April 16, it became known that three UN World Food Program staff members were killed on April 15 during clashes between the Sudanese army and the country’s rapid response forces.

Volker Perthes, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Sudan and head of the UN Transition Support Mission in Sudan, said in a statement.

McCain previously reported that UN WFP will temporarily halt work in Sudan.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres called for accountability for the deaths of three WFP staff members in Sudan.
