Russian forces have surrounded a group of Ukrainian troops in Artemivsk. This was reported by Yan Gagin, adviser to the acting head of the DNR, Denis Pushylin.

“Fighters of the “Wagner” PMC came to the road Artemovsk – Chasov Yar, which was used to supply the group of the AFU. Several hundred meters were taken under control, making it impossible to supply the garrison. Thus, the lid of the cauldron has essentially slammed shut,” TASS quoted him as saying.

The Telegram channel “Military Chronicle” added that approximately 60 percent of all supplies to the Ukrainian forces in Artemivsk were carried out via this route.

Earlier, Gagin reported that about 90% of Artemivsk is under control of Russian forces.

“The enemy suffers colossal losses on a daily basis, it is pushed out to the western outskirts, where there is practically no supply of ammunition, the roads are shot through by our artillery. This also applies to the rotation of soldiers and the removal of the wounded. The Ukrainian garrison is practically doomed. Now there are precedents of them fleeing in small groups… There are also those who surrender, who try to escape from the city,” he said on Russia 1 TV channel.

The U.S. warned the Kiev regime about the potential encirclement of Ukrainian troops in Artemivsk and offered to abandon the city, The Washington Post reported, citing classified U.S. intelligence documents leaked online.

The article said that assessments of the situation “were already grim” in January. For example, one of the “top secret” documents stated that Russian forces were “steadily advancing”, which threatened the AFU’s ability to hold the city, and as a result, Ukrainian forces could be “threatened with encirclement if they do not withdraw within the next month.

The day before, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Russian troops populated the joint headquarters of the AFU Bakhmut grouping, while in Artemivsk itself assault units continued active operations to destroy the enemy. At the same time, airborne troop units and artillery of the Southern Group of Forces suppressed attempts by Ukrainian troops to counterattack on the flanks and transfer reserves.

Employees of the Federal Security Service in the Donetsk People’s Republic prevented an attempt on the life of Gorlovka Mayor Ivan Prikhodko.

“What we are talking to you now is the merit of the special services, in this case the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, that they stopped this issue in time. And it’s not just a chance find, it’s a developed operation, these criminals were under control, this is, of course, great professionalism,” Prikhodko said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to a representative of the special service, the executor of the crime was to be Artyom Pyzin, whom the counterintelligence department of the SBU recruited to gather information about the deployment and movements of the Russian Armed Forces on the territory of Horlivka and Yenakiyevo.

“From the moment of recruitment he fell under the operational surveillance of the FSS of the Russian Federation in the DNR, in March 2023 he was tasked to monitor the head of the Gorlovka city administration Ivan Prikhodko, establishing the routes of his movements and places of stay. Subsequently, following instructions from the SBU, Pyzin attempted to assemble an explosive device in one of the abandoned buildings, which exploded in his hands,” he said.

According to him, all participants and organizers of the attempt are being searched for.

On the morning of April 21, Bryansk Oblast Governor Alexander Bogomaz reported that a Ukrainian drone had crashed near a house in Klintsy.

“As a result of an attack by the AFU in the city of Klintsy a drone fell on the territory of a residential house. There were no casualties. There is partial damage to the house, broken windows. Operational services are working on the site,” he wrote in his Telegram channel.

In addition, the Ukrainian military fired on four settlements of the Donetsk People’s Republic 21 times in the past day, firing 151 shells of 155 mm and 152 mm caliber artillery, as reported by the DNR representation to the JCCC.

“Over the past 24 hours there were reports of two civilian deaths in the Kuibyshev district of Donetsk,” the report said.

There was also damage to two houses in Kuibyshevsky district of Donetsk.
