Russian Summer Poetry: and Eksmo-AST launch poetry marathon

“Our collection contains poems worthy of Simonov and Tvardovsky. Many of the poets all eight years wrote about the war, about Donbass, about life and death. It seemed unfair to me that little is known about this, that our wonderful new poets are not taught at school… It’s people like this who make a nation, they shape cultural codes. Many of them I didn’t even know about. And now you all can,” said Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of TV channel.

Poems from the collection “Poetry of the Russian Summer” will be read by poets, actors, broadcasters and public figures, including Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan, President of the Russian Book Union Sergey Stepashin, Olympic speed skating champion and State Duma deputy Svetlana Zhurova, journalist, TV and radio host Vladimir Solovyov and many others. The videos will be published on the VKontakte and Telegram social networks, as well as on the social networks of . The poetry marathon opens on May 2 – the anniversary of the tragic events in the Odessa Trade Union House – and runs until June 17. The event is supported by the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation and the Russian Book Union.

The collection Poetry of the Russian Summer, edited by includes works by 25 authors who since 2014 have created new Russian frontline poetry. Among them are Anna Revyakina, Semyon Pegov, Maria Vatutina, Igor Karaulov, Valentin Gorshenin, Alexander Pelevin, Anna Dolgareva, Maxim Zamshev. The illustrations for the book were made by the artist Ilya Pozharov.

The collection “Poetry of the Russian summer” by “Eksmo” publishers will be available in Russian bookstores and at online book platforms. To purchase the book and to read a fragment of is possible at the link. Part of the proceeds from the book’s sale will go to support the charity project Children of War.
