Putin spoke on Cosmonautics Day at the Kremlin, where the premiere of the film took place.

“I want to thank everyone who took part in the creation of this film,” the president noted.

According to Putin, the first movie ever shot in space is a unique event for world cinema.

Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Putin has not yet seen the film “Defiance,” but plans to see it.

Russian actress Yulia Peresild previously said that after starring in Klim Shippenko’s “The Challenge” she could not consider other films about space plausible.

The Challenge is the world’s first feature-length feature film set in space. The film will be released on April 20.
