Liberation of city blocks, airborne troops and aviation: the Russian Defense Ministry told about the situation near Artyomovsk

In the past 24 hours, assault units in the Donetsk direction captured two blocks in the northwest and central part of Artemivsk, said Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, the official spokesman of the Russian Defense Ministry.

Airborne troops, operational and tactical aviation, army aviation and artillery of the Yuzhnaya Group of Forces supported the actions of assault units in the area and curtailed the actions of the enemy on the flanks.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the aviation conducted 22 sorties in the area. In turn, the Yuzhnaya Group’s artillery carried out 54 firing missions.

As a result of the strikes, the AFU units in several populated areas of the Donetsk People’s Republic were hit.

In total, the enemy lost more than 270 servicemen and mercenaries, one tank, an infantry fighting vehicle, seven armored fighting vehicles and five vehicles in this direction during the day.

On the South Donets and Zaporizhia directions, air and artillery strikes by the Vostok Group of Forces hit enemy units in the areas of Ugledar and Velyka Novoselka (DNR), as well as several settlements in the Zaporizhia region.

In addition, the activity of a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group was suppressed on DNR territory.

During the day, up to 60 Ukrainian soldiers, two pickup trucks and one Msta-B howitzer were destroyed in these areas. An ammunition depot and a hangar with weapons and military equipment of the 65th mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian armed forces were also hit.

At the same time, more than 55 AFU servicemen, three vehicles, a US-made M777 artillery system, as well as Akatsiya and Gvozdika self-propelled howitzers were destroyed in the Kherson direction.

On the Kupyansk direction, air and artillery strikes of the Western Group of Forces hit AFU units located in Kharkiv Region. Also in this direction, the actions of three Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups were suppressed.

During the day, the enemy lost up to 35 servicemen and an Acacia self-propelled howitzer in this direction.

At the same time, Ukrainian P-18 and 36D6 all-round observation and targeting radar stations were destroyed in Kharkiv Oblast.

In the Krasnoliman direction, air strikes, artillery fire and heavy flamethrower systems of the Center Group of Forces struck enemy units located in the territories of the Luhansk and Donetsk People’s Republics. As a result, more than 70 Ukrainian servicemen, an armored fighting vehicle, and a Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer were destroyed.

Aircraft, missile forces and artillery of the RF Armed Forces groupings hit 95 AFU artillery units in firing positions, manpower and equipment in 123 areas during the day.

Air defense assets intercepted three HIMARS multiple rocket launchers. Additionally, four Ukrainian drones were destroyed.

The Russian Defense Ministry also said that a six-man assault unit of the Central Military District (CMD) stormed an enemy stronghold, killing several mercenaries in the process.

According to the ministry, Russian reconnaissance personnel revealed the location of the militants’ fortified positions located in the forest area using drones.

Subsequently, the soldiers of the assault squad, under the fire cover of tanks, crossed more than 500 meters of mined area and crawled up to the positions of the enemy, where the fight began.

“The fighters, using a large number of F-1 grenades and small arms, destroyed a group of seven British mercenaries and captured an AFU stronghold. During the seizure of the positions, several members of the assault squad were wounded, but after receiving medical treatment, they continued to carry out their combat mission,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.

The ministry noted that the capture of the stronghold allowed the Russian servicemen to occupy the dominant height for successful combat operations.
