In St. Petersburg the number of supermarkets increased by 35% over the year

Most of all the number of supermarkets increased in St. Petersburg – by 35%. In April there were 3,684 such stores there, writes Gazeta.Ru. In Yekaterinburg their number increased by 31%, and in Krasnodar – by 20%. Rounding out the top five are Novosibirsk and Omsk.

In all in Russian cities with million-plus inhabitants there are more than 20 thousand supermarkets. Their number is growing, and the number of small grocery stores with trade over the counter is decreasing, today there are about 17 thousand
